With 2020 coming to a close and 2021 kicking off, the new year always seems to spark a time for setting new goals and redefining your brand vision. Although, with so many marketing tools at your disposal, whittling it down and deciding what best suits your business can become a complicated task.

Keep Up with Social Trends
Even if you weren’t part of it yourself, there’s no denying that you didn’t hear about the dominating year that TikTok experienced in 2020. According to Forbes, in the second quarter of the year, TikTok took the #1 spot on the iOS app store globally! In addition to this, compared to the start of 2020, they experienced a whopping increase in growth of 75%.
This is just one example of social shifts throughout the year and social media can be a fast changing and volatile space; what was once all the rage, can soon become obsolete. Rapid changes in user behaviour and constant updates make it that much more important to keep on top of what’s working and what’s about to have an impact.
Prepare for Increased Automation
Automation is seeping its way into our daily lives with the increased adoption of smart speakers and advancements in voice search capabilities. Although, automation doesn’t end there and for brands it can be tools that take the pressure off and make your life easier.
What area of your business can include elements of automation? Great starting points if you’re not doing so already are using social posting scheduling tools and chatbot messaging systems on your website. Rather than posting each day, you can plan your posts for the week on a Monday with a scheduling tool; sit back, relax and watch the likes roll in. Chatbots give your website visitors communication around the clock and are a great way to gather initial information. You also gain a bit of breathing space to step in and engage with them personally when required.
Consistency Is Key
Be proactive and present at all times. This gives off a great impression to those that know and love your brand but also those that are finding out about you for the first time. Consistency covers multiple areas, whether its emails, blogs, vlogs, social posts and more.
A brand that has a YouTube channel but hasn’t uploaded a video in two plus years doesn’t give off a great impression; and for potential customers, first impressions really count. If you claim you send out a weekly newsletter, make sure it truly is weekly and it continues to be so. It’s better to be consistent with a few things, rather than juggling lots of elements and missing deadlines.
Create More Content
Content can’t be stressed enough. It benefits your brand in so many ways and importantly keeps you in the public eye. Content gives your audience something to engage with and if it’s website content, Google will love you for it. With Google regularly crawling your website, content and great quality content will boost you up the rankings, improving brand visibility and domain authority.
What’s more, content comes in all shapes and sizes, videos, emails, infographics, e-books, whitepapers or a trusty blog. Make 2021 the year you branch out and experiment with new and engaging content.
